There's just no question about it - the best way to have something made for you is to have it made for you. It would be easy to have items available in a range of general sizes. The fact is, that those general sizes fit no one perfectly - and we're trying to offer you the best fit and quality possible. Have you got a long torso and short legs? Beautiful long legs but a little extra in the belly? You know how you'd like your clothes to fit - The more measurements you can send us, the better your item will feel when you put it on.
When you order an item, you will be asked for a short list of measurements - these are what we require to make the item. If you have any additional measurements that you'd like to add - a higher waistline, a shorter hemline, a wider crotch - send them along! We'll gladly make any adjustments to make sure your item is just what you want it to be.
Use a flexible measuring tape. (TIP: if you don't have a flexible tape, you can use a length of string, yarn, even a strip of cloth - then hold it up to a rigid tape to see the measurement!)
Hold the tape lightly and comfortably around the area you're measuring. You don't want it to sag, but you don't want to pull it tight either! If the tape is cinching you painfully around the waist, your garment will do the same, and your seams may have too much strain on them.
Your waist is the narrowest part of your body. If you put your hands on your sides under the ribs and bend your upper body sideways, you will feel where the flesh puckers a bit right where you're bending from. That is your natural waist. Pants usually sit at least two inches lower than this point, and so are often wider. If you are sending a waist measurement, unless otherwise requested please measure your natural waist, as the widening of your body will be factored in to the cut of your garment automatically.
